The Magic Question
One simple question that makes AI far more useful.
Most people ask AI something and take the first answer. There's a better way, and most people have never tried it, even if they've used AI for a year. About 10 minutes.
Before you begin
Open your AI tool in another tab or app: ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini or Copilot all work, and free versions are fine. Tap Copy prompt, paste it in, and change the words in [square brackets] to suit you.
Not sure which AI app to use? Tap to read a little guide
There isn't one perfect AI app for everyone. Popular choices include ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and Microsoft Copilot, and each has a free version. Here's what to look for, so you can choose what feels right for you:
- A free version to start. You can always upgrade later if you love it.
- Works on your device. Most have a phone app and a website.
- Easy to read and use. Choose the one that feels calm and simple to you.
- Voice and photos. Useful if you'd like to talk to it or ask about a picture. Features vary by app and plan.
- Privacy settings you understand. Check whether your chats can be used to improve the AI, and how to switch that off.
- Made by a company you're comfortable with. Read a little about who makes it.
Free doesn't always mean unlimited. Features, usage limits, voice options, photo capabilities and privacy controls vary by provider, plan, device and region.
Start with the one that feels easiest to use, explore its privacy settings, and try a few simple questions. You can always explore another. A lovely way to decide: try the same question in two apps and see which you prefer.
Wonderfully AI is independent and doesn't recommend or receive anything from any AI provider. Download apps only from the official App Store, Google Play or the company's own website.
Let AI interview you first
Instead of trying to explain everything up front, ask AI to ask you. It gathers exactly what it needs, one gentle question at a time, and its answer fits your life instead of being generic.
I'd like help with [what you'd like help with]. Before you answer, please ask me questions one at a time until you have everything you need. Then give me your best suggestion.
AI doesn't know you
It only knows what you tell it. Its questions draw out the details that matter.
You don't need the right words
No need to plan the perfect request. Just answer, the way you would in conversation.
You stay in charge
You choose what to share, and you decide what to do with the suggestion.
Three ways to use it
Pick one, or try all three. Notice how much more personal the answer is.
A thoughtful gift
I'd like help choosing a gift for [who it's for]. Before you answer, please ask me questions one at a time until you have everything you need. Then suggest three ideas.
A weekend you'll love
I'd like help planning a lovely weekend. Before you answer, please ask me questions one at a time until you have everything you need. Then suggest a simple plan.
A tricky message
I need to write a message to [who] about [the situation]. Before you write anything, please ask me questions one at a time until you understand what I'd like to say and how I'd like it to sound. Then write a draft for me to review.
Little tips
- Answer in your own words. Short answers are perfectly fine.
- Say “skip” to any question you'd rather not answer.
- Had enough questions? Say “That's enough, please give me your suggestion now.”
- Never share passwords, bank details or other people's private information.
One line for any request
Add this to the end of almost anything you ask AI:
Before you answer, please ask me questions one at a time.
Save it in your phone's notes so it's always ready.
Look what you can do! ✨
Now imagine simply talking to AI like this, the way you'd chat with a friend. Hello, AI! shows you how. And if you'd love your AI to remember you, so you don't start from scratch each time, that's Your AI Helper.
